How the volume is served
The Shortlist Desk is published as static files from a content network, which means a reader's browser asks for a page and receives it. The volume carries no reader accounts, no comment forms, no newsletter sign-up and no advertising scripts. Reading a note leaves the same trace as fetching any other page from a content network: the request itself, handled by the network that serves the files.
Correspondence
A message sent to contact@osr-recruitment.co.uk is read by the desk and kept only as long as it takes to deal with the point raised. A correction or a source sent in by a reader becomes part of the desk's working notes for the note concerned. Correspondence is used for the note and for a reply, and for nothing else.
Links to other desks
Some notes point to work published elsewhere, and the network section of the home page names other desks in the same trade. Following one of those links takes a reader to another site, whose own practices apply once the reader arrives. The desk lists the address and the subject of each linked page so a reader can decide before clicking.
